Worth it 45
Magic Kingdom
The one Disney park a first trip should not skip, but only on a non-party day with a plan. It is the park where Lightning Lane Multi Pass earns its price, and the park where a 6 p.m. close quietly halves your ticket.
As of September 2026
EPCOT
The Disney park that rewards adults most and punishes planning least. Only five rides build real lines, so one rope-drop sprint and one Single Pass cover the day; the rest is walking, eating and a 9 p.m. show.
As of September 2026
Disney's Animal Kingdom
The cheapest Disney ticket buys Avatar Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest, which is a strong morning. It is not a full day in 2026: with DinoLand closed, plan on leaving by mid-afternoon.
As of September 2026
Universal Islands of Adventure
The best single park in Orlando for thrill rides, and the better of the two Potter lands for rides. The River Adventure closure and Lost Continent demolition cost it very little.
As of September 2026
SeaWorld Orlando
The cheapest big park in Orlando, with a coaster lineup that rivals Islands of Adventure. Go with a clear view of the animal question: orcas and dolphins are still kept and presented here.
As of September 2026
Aquatica Orlando
The cheapest water park day in Orlando when bought online, and it was selling winter dates while Volcano Bay is closed for the season. Go for the wave pools and the family slides, not for bragging-rights drops.
As of September 2026
Disney Springs
Free parking and free entry make it the cheapest Disney evening there is. Treat it as a place to walk and eat, not a shopping trip, and it earns its slot.
As of September 2026
Gatorland
At $34.99 with free parking, Gatorland costs less than a single theme park parking fee plus a snack. It is modest, well run and honest about what it is.
As of September 2026
Lake Eola Park
Free, central and pleasant in the morning or at dusk. It will not fill a day, but a $15 swan boat and a Sunday market visit are among the cheapest good hours in Orlando.
As of September 2026
Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art
Eight dollars for a collection of international importance, and nothing at all on a Friday evening in season. The best museum ticket in greater Orlando, and the anchor of any Winter Park day.
As of September 2026
Airboat rides near Orlando
An hour on an airboat is the easiest way to see wild alligators near Orlando, for roughly the price of a park lunch. Book it as Florida wetlands, not as the Everglades, and you will not be disappointed.
As of September 2026
Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil
From $69 all-in for 90 minutes of top-level acrobatics, with free parking and no park ticket needed. It is the best-value evening show in Orlando for families and adults alike.
As of September 2026
Aerophile at Disney Springs
At $29.99 for the only real aerial view of Disney property that most visitors will get, it earns its price, especially at sunset. Just treat it as a bonus, because wind or storms can ground it at any time.
As of September 2026
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival
If you are going to EPCOT between late August and November 21 anyway, the festival costs nothing extra to enter and turns lunch into the best part of the day. Do not buy an EPCOT day just for it on a Saturday.
As of September 2026
Halloween Horror Nights
The best Halloween event in Orlando for adults and teens who like to be scared. Buy the cheapest night that fits, arrive before 6:30 p.m. and rank your houses; on busy October nights without Express, you will not see all ten.
As of September 2026
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays
If you are at EPCOT in December, the storytellers, kiosks and Candlelight Processional add real value at no extra entry cost. Book a dining package on October 14 if the Candlelight show matters to you.
As of September 2026
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
The best EPCOT festival for adults who like theater and art, in the coolest weeks of the year, at no extra cost over a park ticket. Book a concert dining package for a guaranteed Broadway seat.
As of September 2026
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
EPCOT at its prettiest, with free concerts and no extra ticket. The best festival for families with young children; avoid the peak spring-break weeks in mid-March and around Easter if you can.
As of September 2026
Universal Mardi Gras
If you are at Universal Studios on a Mardi Gras night, the parade and concert cost nothing extra, and catching beads from a float is great fun for children. Do not build a trip around it until 2027 dates and acts are out.
As of September 2026
SeaWorld Seven Seas Food Festival
If you are at SeaWorld on a spring weekend, the booths and a free headline concert turn a coaster day into a full day out. Buy a lanyard only if your group will actually eat 10 samples.
As of September 2026
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
At $77 plus $15 parking it costs about half a Disney day and fills a full one. The included bus tour to the Apollo/Saturn V Center is the reason to go; skip the pricier add-ons unless space is your hobby.
As of September 2026
Blue Spring State Park
For $6 a car you can see wild manatees at close range from the overlooks, which no paid attraction in Orlando matches. The only way to get it wrong now is to drive up without a reservation.
As of September 2026
Lake Eola and Thornton Park
Free apart from parking, flat, and it shows you the part of Orlando that has nothing to do with theme parks. An easy half day for anyone staying downtown or passing through.
As of September 2026
Winter Park and Park Avenue
Free parking, one great museum, one free museum and a cheap boat tour on a walkable main street. The strongest non-park half day in the area.
As of September 2026
Disney Springs evening loop
Free parking and free music turn an evening walk at Disney into something that costs only what you choose to eat. The best recovery evening after a park day.
As of September 2026
Lake Buena Vista and Disney Springs
For a Disney-first trip on a mid-range budget, this is the best off-property base: early entry at the good-neighbor hotels, Disney Springs on foot, and Magic Kingdom's lot under 15 minutes away. Skip it if Universal is half your trip.
As of September 2026
Universal Orlando Resort area
If Universal gets two or more days, stay on site: walking paths, water taxis and early admission are worth more than the rate gap to I-Drive. Pay for an Express hotel only after you do the math below.
As of September 2026
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
If you are going to pay Deluxe prices, this is the one: monorail access to Magic Kingdom, the full perk set, and $7 under the Grand Floridian on the date we checked. Stays after the work ends get the most for the money.
As of September 2026
Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort
The best value on Universal property: on-site perks except Express at under a third of Portofino Bay's price on the dates checked. Buy Express separately only for the days you need it.
As of September 2026
Disney's Pop Century Resort
The best value on Disney property: every perk that matters except Extended Evening Hours, a gondola to two parks, and about $700 a night less than the monorail hotels on December 8.
As of September 2026
Universal Stella Nova Resort
The right hotel for a trip built around Epic Universe: a walk to the gate at a fraction of Helios Grand's price. For Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure days, Cabana Bay is better placed.
As of September 2026
The Alfond Inn
The best place to stay for a Winter Park or non-park trip: walkable to Park Avenue, with a museum-grade art collection in the halls. Not a theme park base; if the parks are the point, the rate and the I-4 drive work against you.
As of September 2026
Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando
For a budget Universal, SeaWorld or convention trip, the costs are low and fully disclosed. Do not expect more than a clean room, pools and a shuttle, and do not use it as a Disney base without a car.
As of September 2026
Kaya
The most distinctive dinner in Orlando at a price that is high but not hotel-high. Book it before you book a Disney signature restaurant.
As of September 2026
Victoria & Albert's
If you are going to spend $600-plus a head on one Orlando dinner, this is the table. Everywhere else on Disney property you pay the location premium without the kitchen to match.
As of September 2026
The Ravenous Pig
The best-value serious meal in greater Orlando. You can eat very well here for under $50 a head, which no Disney table allows.
As of September 2026
Black Bean Deli
The cheapest essential meal on this list. An $11 Cuban and a $2 cafecito beat anything you will eat in a theme park for four times the price.
As of September 2026
Jiko - The Cooking Place
Of Disney's signature restaurants, this is the one where you pay for the cooking. A starter and the priciest entrée still come in under California Grill's $99 prix fixe, and the menu is more interesting.
As of September 2026
Hawkers Asian Street Fare
A dependable, cheap, late dinner in the city's best Asian food neighborhood. Not a destination by itself, but the easiest good meal on the Mills 50 strip.
As of September 2026
Se7en Bites
The best breakfast in the city if your trip includes a Thursday to Sunday morning off the parks. Get there before 11 a.m. or the pie you came for may be gone.
As of September 2026
Key lime pie
Order it once while you are in Florida, and judge it by the color and the tartness. A pale, sharp slice is the real thing; a green, sweet one is not worth $12.
As of September 2026
Cuban sandwich
One of the best-value meals in Orlando. Eat it pressed and hot at a Cuban counter, not at a theme park food cart.
As of September 2026
Dole Whip
At $5.99 it is one of the few Disney prices that has not run away. Get the float, not the cup, and get it at Pineapple Lanai if you are not already in the park.
As of September 2026
Butterbeer
Worth one frozen Butterbeer, shared, on your first Wizarding World visit. It is very sweet, so a second one is rarely a good idea at $9.49.
As of September 2026
Wally's Mills Ave Liquors
Worth it for a cheap beer in a room with 70 years of Orlando history on the walls. Do not come for cocktails; come for the wallpaper, the jukebox and the regulars.
As of September 2026
It depends 49
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Worth a full day if Star Wars or Toy Story is why you came and you will pay for Lightning Lane. Otherwise it is a half day with a construction site in the middle, and on a four-day ticket it is the park to shorten.
As of September 2026
Universal Studios Florida
Worth a day for Diagon Alley and Gringotts, and best paired with Islands of Adventure on a park-to-park ticket. With two coasters gone and the replacement due in 2027, it is the weakest of Universal's three theme parks for thrill riders right now.
As of September 2026
Universal Epic Universe
The best new theme park in Orlando and worth a full day on any trip of three days or more at Universal. On a one- or two-day Universal trip, it competes with Islands of Adventure, and the answer depends on whether you want Nintendo and dragons or Hogsmeade and VelociCoaster.
As of September 2026
Universal Volcano Bay
Worth a slot if it is already on your 4-park multi-day ticket and you visit before October 26. On a short trip, a dry park day is better value, and after October 25 the question is moot until spring.
As of September 2026
Disney's Blizzard Beach
Worth a hot day on a trip of five days or more, especially with teenagers who want Summit Plummet. On a four-day Disney trip, or on a cool winter day, spend the money on a theme park instead.
As of September 2026
LEGOLAND Florida
Worth the drive for families whose children are roughly 3 to 10, who will ride almost everything here. Skip it with teenagers, adults only, or a short trip where the day is better spent at a park you can reach in 20 minutes.
As of September 2026
Discovery Cove
Worth it for a couple or a family with children six and over who want a slow, uncrowded day in the water, especially with a SeaWorld add-on that turns one price into two weeks of parks. Skip it if your group wants rides, or if keeping dolphins for swims is a line you will not cross.
As of September 2026
Universal CityWalk
Worth an evening after 6 p.m. on a non-Horror Nights date, when parking is free and dinner is the point. Before 6 p.m. you pay $35 to park for a strip of chain restaurants, which is poor value.
As of September 2026
Harry P. Leu Gardens
Worth it from November to March, when the camellias and azaleas bloom and the paths are cool. In the heat of summer, a $15 walk in the sun is a harder sell; go early or on a free day.
As of September 2026
Orlando Science Center
Worth it for families with children under about 12, especially on a rainy or brutally hot day; KidsTown alone justifies the ticket for under-sevens. Adults without children will find better uses of $29 plus parking.
As of September 2026
Wekiwa Springs State Park
Worth it if you book ahead: $6 a car for a clear spring is the best value swim in Central Florida. Without a reservation you will be turned away, and summer weekends book up first.
As of September 2026
Old Town Kissimmee
Worth a Friday or Saturday evening for the car cruise, which is free, genuinely local and unlike anything at the parks. On other nights it is a tired strip of bars and gift shops; skip it.
As of September 2026
Kennedy Space Center tours from Orlando
Drive yourself if you have a car: it costs $77 a head plus $15 parking and you control the clock. A guided day trip is worth it only if you have no car or would rather not drive about an hour each way.
As of September 2026
Disney character dining
Worth it for families with children under 10 who would otherwise queue for character meet-and-greets, and best value at breakfast. Adults without kids can skip it.
As of September 2026
Medieval Times Orlando
Worth it with children or a rowdy group who will cheer for their knight. Adults who want a good dinner will find the chicken plate and the $76.95 ticket hard to justify.
As of September 2026
Hot-air balloon rides
Worth it as a once-a-trip splurge for a couple or a birthday, if you book it early in your stay so a weather cancellation can move to another morning. For a quick view, the $29.99 Aerophile at Disney Springs does the job.
As of September 2026
Tubing at Kelly Park (Rock Springs)
Worth it on a weekday outside summer, when $5 buys a cold, clear float in real Florida woods. On a summer weekend, the 4:30 a.m. lines and the capacity cap make it a gamble; choose another spring.
As of September 2026
Pirates Dinner Adventure
Worth it for families with children who love pirates, especially with a discount code. Adults on their own should choose Drawn to Life instead; the included dinner is basic and the extras pile up.
As of September 2026
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Worth it for families with children under about 12 on an early-season night, when tickets are cheapest. At $219 to $229 for late-October nights it is a lot for five hours. For 2026 the point is moot: it is sold out.
As of September 2026
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Worth it once for families who love Christmas and want the parade and fireworks on a limited-ticket night. At $209 to $229 for December nights, with no new entertainment this year, repeat visitors can skip it.
As of September 2026
Cocoa Beach
Worth it if you want a real ocean day and arrive early enough for free parking at Lori Wilson Park. Not worth two and a half hours of driving just to walk the pier and shop at Ron Jon.
As of September 2026
Tampa and Busch Gardens
Worth it if coasters are why you came to Florida: Iron Gwazi, SheiKra, Montu and Tigris have no equal in Orlando. For everyone else, a three-hour round trip on I-4 buys a day you could have had at SeaWorld with no drive.
As of September 2026
St. Augustine
Worth it if you stay one night or genuinely like history and old streets. As a same-day trip from the parks it is nearly five hours of driving for six hours in town,, which leaves little energy for the town itself.
As of September 2026
Crystal River manatee swims
Worth it in season for strong swimmers who accept that manatees decide how close they come. Not worth a 4 a.m. alarm and four hours of driving if you want to touch one, or if seeing them from the Blue Spring overlooks for $6 would satisfy you.
As of September 2026
EPCOT World Showcase loop
Worth it only as part of an EPCOT day you have already paid for. As a walk it is flat, varied and ends with fireworks; as a reason to buy a park ticket on its own, it is expensive.
As of September 2026
International Drive
The right base for a Universal and SeaWorld trip on a budget, or a convention. Not the right base if most of your days are at Disney: you drive every morning and pay to park.
As of September 2026
Kissimmee and US-192
Good for a Disney-focused trip with a car, a big group or a vacation home. Poor for Universal days or a car-free trip, and the US-192 strip is not pleasant to walk.
As of September 2026
Downtown Orlando and Thornton Park
Worth it for a city break, a food trip or the non-park nights of a longer stay. Skip it as a base for a park-heavy week: the I-4 drive and park parking eat the evenings you came here for.
As of September 2026
Winter Park
The best base in Orlando for a trip built around food, art and walking. Wrong for a park-heavy week: every Disney morning starts with 30 to 45 minutes on I-4.
As of September 2026
Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort
Worth it if you want a luxury resort first and the parks second. Not worth it as a park base: a Disney Deluxe hotel on the monorail costs less and adds Extended Evening Hours and the 7-day Lightning Lane window.
As of September 2026
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Worth it for a Victoria & Albert's anniversary or if you want the most formal Disney hotel. Otherwise the Polynesian gives you the same monorail for $7 less on the date we checked, and its refurbishment is scheduled to end sooner.
As of September 2026
Universal's Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
Worth it when two or more adults will spend full days at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure: the included Express covers most of the gap to a value hotel. Not worth it for an Epic Universe-focused trip.
As of September 2026
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Worth it for a savanna view room if animals are the point of your trip. Not worth it for a standard view: you pay Deluxe prices for a bus-only hotel far from Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
As of September 2026
Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Worth it for a family of five or six who would otherwise book two rooms. For four people, Pop Century next door has the same Skyliner and perks for about half the price.
As of September 2026
Gaylord Palms Resort
Worth it for a holiday trip built around ICE! or a family that will use the water park. As a Disney base it is poor value: $85 a night in fee and parking before tax, and none of Disney's hotel perks.
As of September 2026
Soseki Modern Omakase
Worth it if you love sushi and your plans are fixed. The non-refundable prepayment makes it a bad bet on a trip where a storm or a sick child can wipe out an evening.
As of September 2026
California Grill
Worth $99 if you book a table that overlaps the Magic Kingdom fireworks. At 5 p.m., with no show, you are paying Disney prices for a good hotel dinner.
As of September 2026
Christner's Prime Steak & Lobster
Worth it for a celebration dinner with free valet and a private room at no extra charge. If you just want the best steak for the money, the list prices are no bargain.
As of September 2026
Capa
Book it for a fireworks night and eat tapas on the terrace. For a full steak dinner at $95 a ribeye, you are paying for the rooftop, and in 2026 Michelin no longer gives it a star to justify that.
As of September 2026
4 Rivers Smokehouse
Solid, fairly priced barbecue that beats park food easily. It is a chain, though: use the store nearest your hotel rather than making a special drive.
As of September 2026
The Boathouse
Go for a drink on the dock and a look at the amphicars, or split the baked Alaska. A full steak dinner here costs Chicago-steakhouse money for a Disney Springs meal.
As of September 2026
Gator bites
Worth one basket if you are already at Gatorland. Not worth a special trip for the food alone: it is a novelty, not a delicacy.
As of September 2026
Smoked turkey leg
Worth it as a shared snack for two, once. As a solo lunch it is a lot of salt and gristle for $14.99, and a quick-service meal is better value.
As of September 2026
Grouper sandwich
Worth ordering where the restaurant names the species and the source. A cheap, vague "grouper" sandwich is exactly where DNA tests have found substitutes, so skip it.
As of September 2026
Boiled peanuts
Worth trying once for $5.99 if you like salty food and soft textures. If you expect a crunchy roasted peanut, skip it.
As of September 2026
Trader Sam's Grog Grotto
Worth it if you join the walk-up list right at opening and order a show drink. If you only have a late evening slot and no patience for a two-hour list, skip it and get a Dole Whip float next door.
As of September 2026
Oga's Cantina
Worth one reservation if you are a Star Wars fan and want the room, the droid DJ and a blue drink. Everyone else gets more for their money at a resort lounge with no clock running.
As of September 2026
Hanson's Shoe Repair
Worth it for two or three people who want a serious cocktail and get the password early. Skip it with a big group or if you want photos of your night.
As of September 2026
The Edison
Worth it for one well-made cocktail in a striking room, ideally at weekday happy hour when prices drop by about half. Do not plan a late night here: it now closes by 11:30 p.m.
As of September 2026
Skip it 7
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Skip it on any trip until Disney posts a reopening date: it has been closed since September 9, 2026. The day it reopens, it is the Disney water park we would choose first, for the surf pool and the lazy river.
As of September 2026
ICON Park and The Wheel
The one thing only ICON Park has, the 400-foot wheel, was closed on the date we checked with no reopening date. What remains are chain attractions found in many cities. Come for dinner if you are staying on I-Drive; do not build a day around it.
As of September 2026
Universal Helios Grand Hotel
The private entrance is a nice few minutes, not a perk worth about $130 to $270 a night over Stella Nova, which also walks you to Epic Universe. No Express, and every other park is a bus ride.
As of September 2026
Hyatt Regency Orlando
For a theme park vacation, skip it: $93 a night in fees and parking before tax, no park perks, and convention demand that pushed it off the market on both of our test dates. Book it only if you are attending an event next door.
As of September 2026
Knife & Spoon
A skilled kitchen, but you cannot see the price before you sit down, it lost its star in 2024, and it is out of the way for most visitors. Capa or Christner's give you the same kind of night with the numbers printed.
As of September 2026
Space 220
The elevator and the window are the product, and they last as long as a drink. Pay $79 for a full dinner only if the theme itself is the treat; everyone else should try the lounge.
As of September 2026
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen
As a restaurant, skip it: you queue for a table for a savory menu of burgers, pasta and steaks that nobody crosses town for. As a $20 shake from the counter, it is a fine CityWalk treat.
As of September 2026
Build the rest of the trip
Everything else on the site, with what is in it.
