Winter Park and Park Avenue

The Morse Museum's own parking advice points to free parking on the first, fourth and fifth floors of the Park Place garage on Canton Avenue, across from the museum. That is the start of this walk. The museum also has a small lot behind it off Cole Avenue, and there is street parking on Park Avenue and the side streets.

The City of Winter Park's downtown parking map marks further free public parking in the lot beside the Winter Park SunRail station on New York Avenue, and in the Bank of America garage on Welbourne Avenue. Winter Park is testing paid parking in 2026, but only at Dinky Dock park, not downtown.

If you arrive by SunRail, the Winter Park station sits on the west side of Central Park; start the route at step 3.

1. Park Place garage to the Morse Museum. Cross Canton Avenue to 445 North Park Avenue. Open Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.; $8 adults, free under 12. Allow 90 minutes, and end in the Tiffany Chapel.
2. South on Park Avenue to Morse Boulevard (0.24 miles, 5 minutes). Central Park's oaks are on your right, shops and restaurants on your left.
3. East on Morse Boulevard to the Scenic Boat Tour (0.35 miles, 7 minutes). The dock is at 312 East Morse Boulevard, where the street meets Lake Osceola.
4. Scenic Boat Tour (1 hour). Tours leave every hour from 10 a.m.; the last one leaves at 4 p.m. First come, first served. $20 adults and $10 children 2 to 11, tax included.
5. Back to Park Avenue at New England Avenue (0.44 miles, 9 minutes). This brings you to the south end of Central Park, with the Rose Garden and Peacock Fountain.
6. South to the Rollins Museum of Art (0.52 miles, 10 minutes). Park Avenue runs into the Rollins College campus; the museum is at 1000 Holt Avenue. Admission is free.
7. Knowles Memorial Chapel (0.18 miles, 4 minutes), on the same campus, for the architecture.
8. Back north on Park Avenue to the garage (about 0.7 miles, 14 minutes), with lunch or coffee on the way.

The hours fit together if you start at 9:30 a.m. at the Morse, catch the 11 a.m. or noon boat, eat on Park Avenue, and reach the Rollins museum after lunch. Rollins Museum of Art hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday noon to 4 p.m.; closed Mondays, holidays and during installations.

On a Sunday, the Morse does not open until 1 p.m. Reverse the route: boat at 10 or 11 a.m., Rollins at noon, Morse at 1 p.m.

From November to April, the Morse stays open until 8 p.m. on Fridays and is free from 4 to 8 p.m. For 2026 to 2027, those Fridays run November 27 to December 18 and March 5 to April 30. An afternoon boat, then the Morse for free at 4 p.m., then dinner on Park Avenue, is the cheapest good version of this walk.

The City of Winter Park is rebuilding Park Avenue's streetscape. Phase 1 covers the stretch from Webster Avenue to Garfield Avenue, at the museum end of the avenue. The city closes one to two blocks at a time, including adjacent parking spaces and the southbound lane, and its August 24, 2026 update moved work to the east side of the avenue. Temporary parking has been added on Morse Boulevard between New York and Virginia avenues. Expect barriers and detours near the start of the walk, and check the city's project page for the current block.

The city's Saturday Farmers' Market runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Central Park West Meadow, at New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard, beside the SunRail station. A few times a year it moves to Seven Oaks Park for big events in the meadow, such as the autumn art festival. Start at the market at 9 a.m., then walk to the Morse for 9:30 a.m.
