Is Discovery Cove worth it?

Starting prices from Discovery Cove's pricing page, per person, before taxes and fees:

The dolphin swim costs $40 over the Day Resort package. SeaWorld and Aquatica cost $60 for 14 days. Busch Gardens, parking and a shuttle cost another $20.

Now compare a regular SeaWorld day. SeaWorld's single-day ticket ran $59.99 to $83.99 in late September 2026 and $69.99 to $97.99 in October. Its All-Day Dining add-on is $40 in the ticket bundle, and parking is from $35. That is about $135 to $173 for a SeaWorld day with food and parking. Discovery Cove's $159 starting price, with food, beer and wine, snorkel gear and free parking, lands in the same range.

• Included: breakfast, lunch, snacks, select beer and wine, snorkel gear, wetsuits and vests, towels, lounge chairs, lockers, animal-safe sunscreen and showers.
• Areas: the Grand Reef, the Freshwater Oasis, Explorer's Aviary and Serenity Bay.
• Parking: complimentary self-parking.
• Not included in Day Resort: the dolphin swim. Taxes and fees are added to every package.

Children 2 and under are free with a paying adult but still need a reservation. For the dolphin swim, the minimum age is 6, and children 6 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult who is also swimming.

The +2 Parks Day Resort package is $219 at the starting price. Here is what each extra visit does to the cost per day:

• Discovery Cove plus one SeaWorld day: $109.50 a day.
• Plus a second SeaWorld day: $73 a day.
• Plus an Aquatica day: $54.75 a day.

Put the other way: two SeaWorld days bought separately at the lowest September price cost $119.98. Subtract that from $219 and Discovery Cove itself costs you about $99, with meals, beer and wine included. On October dates, when SeaWorld tickets ran up to $97.99, the saving is bigger.

For comparison, a 1-day ticket to Universal's Volcano Bay water park started at $80.99 on Universal's store, and a Disney water park day is $74, both listed without tax and before food. Discovery Cove costs more, but the gap narrows fast once lunch and drinks are counted.

• Anyone already planning a SeaWorld Orlando day. The +2 Parks package turns $60 into two weeks of SeaWorld and Aquatica.
• Adults who want a slow day. Lounging, snorkeling and included beer and wine make a good break from rope-drop park days.
• Families with confident swimmers aged 6 and up who want the dolphin swim. At $40 over the Day Resort price, it is the add-on that makes the day distinctive.
• Coaster fans heading to Tampa anyway: the +3 Parks package adds Busch Gardens and a free bus for $20 more.

• Thrill-seekers. There are no rides. Spend the money on Islands of Adventure or Epic Universe.
• Weak swimmers. The reef and river are the day. Vests are provided, but the value is in the water.
• Visitors with no SeaWorld plans who just want a pool: a hotel pool day or a Disney water park costs less.

1. Price your date first. The $159 and $199 figures are starting prices. Check the date you want before comparing.
2. Choose the +2 Parks version if you will spend even one day at SeaWorld or Aquatica within 14 days.
3. Check the Florida resident rates page if you live in the state; Discovery Cove publishes separate resident pricing.
4. Plan a full day. Meals are included, so arriving for breakfast gets the most from the price.
