Universal Orlando in 3 days

Universal now has three theme parks and they need three days. Epic Universe, opened May 22, 2025, sits on its own site with its own parking lot. Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida share a garage and CityWalk, and are linked by the Hogwarts Express, which needs a park-to-park ticket.
The ticket that fits is the 3-day, 3-park park-to-park: any 3 days within 5 consecutive days, all three parks every day. Universal's store showed it at $571.99 per adult starting Monday, October 12, 2026, $485.99 from October 5 and $451.99 from September 22, before tax. That is the week this plan is built for. Our advice on Express is mostly no; the exceptions are below.

Day 1: Epic Universe, opening to close
Plan: Epic opened at 10 a.m. on September 22, 2026. Universal hotel guests had early entry at 9 a.m. through September 30, but Universal had published no later dates when we checked. Be at the gate before opening. Go first to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry or Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge; in 2026 they averaged 95 and 57 minutes of posted wait. Mine-Cart Madness averaged 100, so ride it in the last hour. Then Stardust Racers, Monsters Unchained in Dark Universe and Hiccup's Wing Gliders on the Isle of Berk. Stay to close; you will not be back unless you choose to be.
With children, check heights before you promise anything: Mario Kart and Battle at the Ministry need 40 inches, Stardust Racers and Monsters Unchained 48. Isle of Berk is the best world for younger children. Our Orlando with kids page lists every park.
Eat: in the park. Drivers note that CityWalk's free parking after 6 p.m. does not apply at Epic's lot.
Express: skip. Epic sells only single-use Express, from $199.99 and $210 to $340 a person on October dates, more than the ticket. The free Express Unlimited at Universal's top hotels is not valid here.
Day 2: Islands of Adventure, then the train
Plan: Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at opening, because it is not on the Express list. Walk clockwise to VelociCoaster (51 inches), back to Forbidden Journey, then Hulk and Spider-Man before noon. Toon Lagoon if it is hot. Mid-afternoon, take the Hogwarts Express from Hogsmeade to King's Cross and finish in Diagon Alley with Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Jurassic Park River Adventure is closed until November 19, 2026. Skull Island: Reign of Kong reopened on September 18 without its giant Kong figure, which Universal says is being repaired.
Eat: a Butterbeer in Hogsmeade, then dinner off site: Kaya in Mills 50 is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5 p.m.
Express: not on a quiet weekday. On a holiday or peak week, Express for both older parks started at $124.99 a person, and it covers VelociCoaster, Forbidden Journey and Gringotts.
Day 3: Universal Studios, then your favorites
Plan: Revenge of the Mummy, now the park's biggest thrill, then MEN IN BLACK, Transformers and The Simpsons Ride. Families: DreamWorks Land and Minion Land. Fast & Furious: Supercharged closed for good on August 16, 2026, and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is gone. Animal Actors On Location! gives its last show on November 2, 2026. By early afternoon you are done; your park-to-park ticket lets you go back to Islands for a VelociCoaster re-ride or to Epic for anything you missed.
On Halloween Horror Nights dates (select nights to November 1, 2026), Studios closes to day guests early; it was 6 p.m. on September 22.
Eat: CityWalk. A shake at Toothsome is $18 to $20; we would skip dinner there.
Express: skip on day three; it is the repeat day.
Express, or the hotel that includes it
Our verdict on Universal Express is that it pays for one busy day at the two older parks and rarely across three days. Three-day Express for all three parks started at $125 a day per person.
The other route is a room at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel or Royal Pacific, which include Express Unlimited at Studios and Islands from check-in until the parks close on check-out day. It never works at Epic Universe or Volcano Bay. Portofino was $680 a night on November 17, 2026 against $194 at Cabana Bay: worth it on peak dates if both of you would otherwise buy Express Unlimited at $164.99 or more a day.
Where to sleep
Stay on site; see the Universal area guide. Stella Nova has a walking path to Epic and a shuttle to CityWalk; it was $225 on November 17 and $367 on December 8, plus 12.5% tax, with $30 a night self-parking. Cabana Bay has walking paths to Studios, Islands and Volcano Bay and was $194 and $202 on the same dates, with $26 parking. Every Universal hotel gets Early Park Admission when Universal schedules it. Helios Grand has its own door into Epic, but at $499 a night we would not pay for it.

Tickets from Universal's official store on September 22, 2026, before tax; parking $35 a day, tax included, valid at Epic's lot and the main garages. At a Universal hotel with a car, you pay the hotel's nightly parking instead. The calendar's dearest stretches were October 8 to 16 and November 22 to 27, at $180 to $193 a day. Dates that change the plan
- Volcano Bay closes October 26, 2026; Universal gives reopening dates from March 24 to on or before April 1, 2027. Do not pay for a 4-park ticket in winter. See Volcano Bay.
- Universal Nights at Epic Universe, a separate $179 ticket, runs October 3, 17 and 24 and November 6 and 20, 2026.
- Holidays at Universal runs November 14, 2026 to January 3, 2027.
- Winter 2027 closures: Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges January 4 to February 2, Fyre Drill January 25 to February 4, Forbidden Journey February 8 to 19.

Frequently asked questions
Is 3 days enough for Universal Orlando?
Yes. One day each for Epic Universe and Islands of Adventure, and a third for Universal Studios Florida and repeats. Two days works only at a rush.
Which Universal park should I do first?
Epic Universe. It needs the fullest day and its own parking lot, and the older parks share a garage and the Hogwarts Express, so they sit well together on the following days.
Does the 3-day Universal ticket include Epic Universe?
The 3-park tickets do. The 3-day park-to-park version admits you to Epic, Studios and Islands on any 3 days within 5 consecutive days. A 1-day park-to-park ticket never includes Epic.
Is Universal Express worth it for 3 days?
Usually not. Skip it at Epic, where it ran $210 to $340 a person in October 2026. Buy it for one peak-week day at the older parks if lines are long, from $124.99 a person.
Does hotel Express work at Epic Universe?
No. The free Express Unlimited at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Royal Pacific covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only.
