Is Epic Universe worth it?

Starting prices per adult per day, before tax, from Universal's store on September 22, 2026. "From" prices apply on the cheapest dates.

On one day, Epic costs $15 more than an older park at the starting price; on the dates our parks team checked, $140 to $170 against $125 to $155 in late September. On two days, the difference is $10 for the whole ticket. On three days, you would have to try hard to leave Epic out.

Universal also sold a Special 3-Day ticket from $99 per day ($297 total) with one day at each park, subject to blockout dates. Our Universal tickets guide covers the rules.

Queue-Times' 2026 averages of posted waits show two very long lines and a lot of short ones:

• Mine-Cart Madness (Donkey Kong): 100 minutes
• Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry: 95 minutes
• Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge: 57 minutes
• Curse of the Werewolf 32, Hiccup's Wing Gliders 29, Dragon Racer's Rally 24, Yoshi's Adventure 22
• Stardust Racers 20, Fyre Drill 17, Monsters Unchained 15, Constellation Carousel 15

Stardust Racers and Monsters Unchained are among the best rides in the park and average 20 minutes or less. The day is decided by Mine-Cart Madness and the Ministry: together they average more than three hours of standby. Ride one at opening and one in the last hour, and the rest of the park fits comfortably between them.

Crowds have also eased. Queue-Times' average crowd level at Epic is 46% for 2026 so far, against 61% in 2025, and two of its ten quietest recorded days fell in September 2026.

Probably not. Epic Express is single-use, started at $199.99, and ran $210 to $340 per person plus tax on the dates checked. That is more than the Epic ticket itself. Express Unlimited is not sold for Epic, and the free hotel Express at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock and Royal Pacific does not work here.

The cheaper line-skip is staying at a Universal hotel. Universal gave hotel guests Early Park Admission from 9 a.m. at Epic through September 30, 2026. An hour before the public on Mine-Cart Madness and the Ministry is worth more than Express on most days. Later early-entry dates had not been published when we checked. • Anyone with two or more Universal days. At $10 extra, there is no ticket reason to skip it.
• Nintendo families. SUPER NINTENDO WORLD has Mario Kart, Yoshi's Adventure and Mine-Cart Madness in one land.
• Families with younger children, for Isle of Berk's rides and shows.
• Harry Potter fans who have done Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. The Ministry is the new chapter.

• One Universal day, first visit, Potter fans. Islands of Adventure with Hagrid's, Forbidden Journey and VelociCoaster, plus Diagon Alley on a park-to-park ticket, is the more complete Harry Potter day. The 1-day Epic ticket cannot hop.
• Annual passholders. Universal's 2026 passes do not include Epic; you pay separately.
• Visitors who will not arrive at opening. A late start means one of the two big lines at midday, and that is where Epic days go wrong.
