Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Universal's hotel page lists walking paths from Cabana Bay to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay, plus a complimentary shuttle bus to the CityWalk hub. Volcano Bay is reached by the dedicated walking path only, and Universal calls Cabana Bay the shortest walk to it.

On a hot afternoon the shuttle is the easier choice. For Epic Universe, the hotel page lists no walking path; ask how the hotel buses run on your dates, or drive: Universal's $35 day parking covers the Epic Universe lot.

Cabana Bay's best location perk is the short walk to Volcano Bay. Universal says Volcano Bay begins a maintenance closure on October 26, 2026 and reopens on or before April 1, 2027. Winter stays lose that perk. Universal's hotel listing carried a "park renovation notice" on Cabana Bay when we checked.

Early Park Admission lets Universal hotel guests into one park up to an hour before opening. The park and the rides change by date. On September 22, 2026, Universal's page listed dates through September 30 only: at Islands of Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Ollivanders and Hagrid's motorbike coaster; at Epic Universe, select rides in four areas; and at Universal Studios Florida, no upcoming dates. From Cabana Bay, the walking path makes that hour usable without waiting for a bus.

On November 17, Portofino Bay cost $486 more than Cabana Bay; on December 8, $433 more. Portofino includes Express Unlimited at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, which Universal values at $199.99 per person per day on average.

For two adults who will use Express every day of the stay, the premium roughly pays for itself. For everyone else, stay here and buy Express only for your busiest day, or skip it: early admission plus a rope-drop plan covers the headline rides at Islands of Adventure. • Rooms: standard rooms and family suites that sleep up to six, which is the reason families of five book here.
• Pools: two large pools and a winding river; the bowling alley costs extra.
• Parking: $26 a night self-parking plus tax, the lowest of the Universal hotels we checked.
• Tax: 12.5% on the room rate. We found no separate resort fee on Universal's policy pages.
• Room key: charge purchases across the resort, and send shopping to the hotel free from select stores.

Dining centers on a food court; for a sit-down dinner, CityWalk is a walk or shuttle away.

Book it for any Universal trip where the budget matters, especially with children or a party of five or six.
