Universal Orlando Resort area

Universal's reservations system, checked September 22, 2026, lowest rate for one room, two adults, one night:

Universal's policy pages add 12.5% tax (6.5% state, 6% Orange County) on the room charge. We found no separate resort fee on the hotel policy pages. Endless Summer's Dockside and Surfside Inn and Suites complete the list of eleven.

Note the swings: Sapphire Falls halved between the two dates, and Stella Nova rose by $142. Price your own dates.

Early Park Admission. Universal hotel guests can enter one park up to an hour early, for select attractions. Universal publishes dates only a few weeks out: on September 22, 2026 its page listed dates through September 30 for Islands of Adventure (including Hagrid's and VelociCoaster) and Epic Universe (select attractions in Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, Isle of Berk and Celestial Park; Dark Universe was not listed), and "no upcoming dates" for Universal Studios Florida.

Express Unlimited comes free with Portofino Bay, Hard Rock and Royal Pacific. Your room key is the pass, from the moment it is issued until the parks close on check-out day. Universal puts its average value at $199.99 per person per day. It works at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only, not at Epic Universe, Volcano Bay or separately ticketed events. The math: on November 17, Portofino cost $486 more than Cabana Bay. Two adults who spend a full day at Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure would pay about $400 for Express at Universal's average value. If your days are Epic Universe days, the premium buys nothing on the rides. And early admission is not Express: once the gates open to everyone, you queue with everyone.

• Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific: water taxi and shuttle bus to the CityWalk hub, walking paths to CityWalk and both original parks, and a dedicated bus to Volcano Bay.
• Cabana Bay and the other value hotels: shuttle bus to the CityWalk hub and walking paths to CityWalk, the parks and Volcano Bay.
• Helios Grand: its own entrance into Epic Universe, a shuttle to the CityWalk hub for the other parks, and a Volcano Bay bus.
• Stella Nova: a walking path or shuttle to Epic Universe, and a shuttle to the CityWalk hub.

Driving in? Universal's regular self-parking is $35 a day, tax included, valid all day at the Epic Universe lot and the garages serving CityWalk and the other parks. Hotel self-parking runs $26 a night at Cabana Bay, $30 at Stella Nova and $36 at Helios Grand and Portofino Bay.

One closure to plan around: Universal says Volcano Bay begins a maintenance closure on October 26, 2026 and reopens on or before April 1, 2027.

Chain hotels line Kirkman Road and Vineland Road just outside Universal's gates. They get none of the perks above, but some cost far less. Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort showed $107 a night on November 17 and $278 on December 8, including fees but before taxes, on Hyatt's site. Many hotels here and on International Drive are Universal Partner Hotels with free scheduled shuttles.

Evenings center on CityWalk: restaurants such as Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, bars and Hollywood Drive-In Golf, free to enter and a walk or water taxi from the Signature hotels. The Epic Universe hotels are quieter; Helios Grand has a rooftop bar.

Disney is a real drive: 16 to 20 minutes from Universal's garages to the Magic Kingdom lot at 8 a.m., 13.1 miles via I-4 W, and 16 to 24 minutes from Epic Universe. Doable for a day or two, then pay $35 to park at Disney.
