International Drive

The trolley's Red Line starts at Orlando International Premium Outlets at the north end and loops south to the Vineland outlets, which gives you a sense of the length. Along the way you pass ICON Park, Pointe Orlando, the convention center, SeaWorld and Aquatica.

The north end, around ICON Park and Sand Lake Road, is the busiest stretch and closest to Universal. The south end, past the convention center, is newer and quieter, with the big convention hotels such as the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Pointe Orlando, a shopping and dining center with WonderWorks, sits across the road from the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando.

One check before you plan around ICON Park: its observation wheel, now called The Orlando Eye, showed "Closed" for annual maintenance on September 22, 2026, with no reopening date on its own site.

These are Google Maps estimates for a Tuesday 8 a.m. departure (October 13, 2026) in typical traffic. They end at the parking areas. For Magic Kingdom you still take the monorail or ferry from the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Parking at the parks is extra for I-Drive guests: $35 a day for standard parking at Disney and $35 at Universal, both tax included. Our parking fees page has the full list.

The trolley is the one piece of public transport built for visitors, and it is cheap:

• Single ride: $2 adults, $1 children 3 to 9, $0.25 seniors 65 and over, under 3 free. Exact change; drivers carry no cash.
• Unlimited passes: 1 day $8, 3 days $10, 5 days $12, 7 days $18, 14 days $22. Not sold on board; days are consecutive once activated.
• Hours: daily 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

There are two lines. The Red Line runs the length of International Drive about every 20 minutes. The Green Line covers Major Boulevard, Universal Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard, then shadows the Red Line on South I-Drive, about every 45 minutes. Transfers between them are free.

What it does not do: the route description lists SeaWorld, the outlets and the convention center, but not the Universal parks or anything at Walt Disney World. For Universal, many I-Drive hotels in the Universal Partner Hotel program run a free scheduled shuttle; the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando asks you to book it 24 hours ahead because space is limited. For Disney, you drive, pay for a third-party shuttle or use rideshare.

I-Drive stays lit and busy after the parks close, which is its main advantage over the Disney bubble. You can walk to dinner along the northern stretch, and the trolley runs until 10:30 p.m. Pointe Orlando and ICON Park carry most of the evening traffic; Pirates Dinner Adventure is the area's dinner show.

It is not charming. It is chain restaurants, gift shops and six-lane road crossings. For a restaurant worth the drive, Sand Lake Road's restaurant row is close by; for a real neighborhood evening, downtown and Winter Park are 20 to 30 minutes north.

I-Drive spans budget to convention luxury. What the hotels' own booking pages showed for one night, two adults:

• Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando: $159.99 best available rate on December 8, 2026 ($131.19 with AAA or AARP); $194.99 on November 17. No resort fee; parking $10 a night.
• Hyatt House Orlando / International Drive: $108 on November 17 and $144 on December 8, including fees, before taxes (Hyatt's search results).
• Hyatt Regency Orlando: not bookable online on either date; from $692 on January 12, 2027, a figure that already includes its $48 daily resort fee, before taxes.

Two patterns to know. Convention weeks push the big south-end hotels to sell-out or to surprising prices, so check the convention calendar before you commit. And fees vary by hotel: at the Hyatt Regency the resort fee and self-parking together come to $93 a night before tax.

Stay here if your trip is mostly Universal, SeaWorld or a convention, if you want cheap rooms and walkable dinners, or if you want one base that splits the difference between the two resorts.
