Everything that matters is within a few blocks of Park Avenue, which is why the town works without a car once you arrive. Our Park Avenue walk strings it together:

• Central Park, the green strip along the avenue, hosts the Saturday Farmers' Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the West Meadow at New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard.
• The Morse Museum holds Louis Comfort Tiffany's chapel from the 1893 Chicago fair and a deep Tiffany collection; see our Morse page for hours and the Friday evening policy.
• Rollins College closes the south end, and the Rollins art collection spills into The Alfond Inn, which displays the Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art.

The Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour leaves from 312 East Morse Boulevard, at the foot of Morse, for an hour-long guided tour through the lakes and the narrow canals between them. Its own site lists:

• Price: $20 adults and $10 children 2 to 11, sales tax included.
• Times: tours leave every hour from 10 a.m.; hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
• Closed: Christmas Day. Boarding is first come, first served; groups can call ahead.

At $20 for an hour, it is one of the best-value things to do in the Orlando area. Pair it with the Saturday market: the market closes at 1 p.m., and the dock is a few blocks east along Morse Boulevard.

Add $35 a day for standard park parking at Disney or Universal, and the monorail or ferry from the Magic Kingdom lot.

SunRail stops at Winter Park/Amtrak, a short walk from Park Avenue. Trains run Monday to Friday only. On the published timetable it is about 16 minutes from Church Street in downtown Orlando, and a one-county ticket is $2. That makes a car-free day trip from downtown easy on a weekday and impossible on a Saturday. Orlando International Airport is about 18 miles away, 30 to 35 minutes by car, per The Alfond Inn.

Evenings are about dinner, not nightlife. The Ravenous Pig, on Fairbanks Avenue, holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand; Soseki is the town's Michelin-starred omakase; Black Bean Deli is the cheap Cuban lunch. Park Avenue is pleasant to stroll after dinner, but if you want bars that stay loud, downtown Orlando is a short drive south.

The hotel most visitors plan around is The Alfond Inn, the Rollins College art hotel near Park Avenue. On its booking engine on September 22, 2026, a Classic King for November 17 was $478.86 including taxes and fees on a non-refundable advance-purchase rate, and $531.62 on a more flexible rate. December 8 showed no availability.

On top: valet parking from $37 a day plus tax (the inn has no self-parking), and the $27 nightly resort fee is already in that all-in figure. The fee covers the fitness center, Wi-Fi, calls, the rooftop pool and bar, and a 10% spa discount. Guests must be 21 to check in, and dogs are welcome at $50 per dog per night, up to two.

Prices at that level mean Winter Park is not a budget base. It is a choice about how you want your evenings to feel: a walk to dinner instead of a shuttle queue. If the budget is tight, stay near the parks and come here for a day instead; the boat tour, the market and the museum all fit into one Saturday.

Stay here for an Orlando trip without theme parks, a couples' weekend, or the non-park half of a longer stay. Skip it if you have four or more park days: Lake Buena Vista or the Universal area saves you roughly half an hour to more than an hour of driving on every Disney day.
