Hanson's Shoe Repair is a speakeasy on the top floors of the Hanson Building at 27 E. Pine St. in downtown Orlando. You need the nightly password. Get it by calling or texting (407) 476-9446, or from the bar's social accounts. Then walk through Bauhaus, the bar at street level, climb the stairs and ring the bell at the unmarked door.
Inside there is room for about 35 people, plus a rooftop terrace. Regular guests cannot reserve, so the room fills on a first-come basis. Hanson's does not publish a menu or prices online. Expect whiskey-forward classics and bartenders who will build a drink to your taste.

The entry process, step by step
- Earlier in the day, call or text (407) 476-9446, or check the bar's X or Instagram account, for that night's password.
- Go to 27 E. Pine St. and enter the building through Bauhaus.
- Head to the back and up the stairs to the unmarked door. Ring the bell and give the password.
- Climb two more flights to the bar and rooftop.
Arrive near opening. Once the room is full, you wait for people to leave. Street parking on Pine Street is scarce, and nearby garages are the more reliable option.
The rules are real
Hanson's asks guests not to wear baseball caps, not to use flash photography and not to smoke. Today's Orlando also lists no phones, no photos and no inappropriate behavior among the house rules. Dress a notch above theme-park clothes.
The bar has a reputation for not stocking vodka, which pushes the menu toward whiskey, rum, gin and mezcal. Reviewers mention an Old Fashioned, a martini with a blue cheese garnish, and mezcal drinks.
The building is the other reason to go
The Hanson Building went up in 1883 and 1884. Andrew Hanson bought it in 1894 for his shoe repair shop, which had Orlando's first electric sign. The bar's operators describe it as possibly the oldest building still standing in downtown Orlando.

What we could not verify
Hanson's does not post a cocktail menu, prices or fixed hours on its website. The most recent price we found is a 2019 review quoting $12 cocktails, which is too old to rely on. Hours listings for 2026 disagree on whether it opens at 5, 7 or 8 p.m. on Fridays and whether it closes on Mondays. Ask when you get the password.
