For a couple, driving comes to two adult tickets ($154 plus tax) and $15 parking. Add fuel and the SR 528 tolls, which vary by where you join the road. A family of two adults and two children aged 3 to 11 pays $288 in tickets plus the same $15 parking. The car cost does not rise with each extra passenger. A guided trip's cost does.

The official directions give about 50 miles and roughly an hour from Orlando. From the Disney or International Drive hotel areas, plan on closer to 75 minutes, because you start further west. Leave by 7:45 a.m. to be at the gate for the 9 a.m. opening.

Guided day trips from Orlando bundle round-trip coach transport with a KSC admission ticket. Pickups are usually at central points in the Disney, Universal, Kissimmee and International Drive areas. One transport-and-admission package we checked on September 22, 2026 cost $136 per person, adult or child. It left Orlando around 8 a.m., reached KSC around 9 a.m. and left the complex at 5 p.m.

Compare that with driving. Two adults pay $272 on the coach against $154 in tickets plus $15 parking and fuel by car. For one traveler without a car, the gap closes, and a coach can beat a rideshare or a one-day rental.

The trade-offs are the fixed departure time, a group pace and no detour to the beach. Most guided trips also use the standard ticket, so the included bus tour and exhibits are the same ones you would see alone. A few premium small-group tours add behind-the-gates access at a much higher price. Read what is included before you pay extra.

Admission covers the exhibits in the main complex, including the Space Shuttle Atlantis hall, and the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour. That bus runs through NASA's gates to two stops: The Gantry at LC-39 and the Apollo/Saturn V Center. You stay at each as long as you like and catch a later bus back.

KSC says to allow 3 hours for the bus tour, and the last bus leaves 2.5 hours before closing. With a 5 p.m. close, that means boarding by 2:30 p.m. Do the bus tour in the morning and the main complex after lunch. Reverse it and you risk missing the Saturn V entirely, which is the best exhibit on the property.

You can bring food in small soft-sided coolers. Glass and outside alcohol are not allowed.

The Explore Tour is the one most visitors should consider. For $30 it swaps the self-guided bus for a guided route with photo stops at the Vehicle Assembly Building and the NASA Press Site. On launch days, KSC says regular admission can include bleacher seating (first come, first served), live commentary and a view of the rocket clearing the tree line. Closer viewing needs a separate Launch Transportation Ticket or a launch package, priced per launch on the KSC events calendar.

Launches slip, often by days. If a launch is the point of the trip, drive yourself. A coach will not wait for a delayed countdown. The next crewed flight listed on the KSC site was NASA's SpaceX Crew-13, marked no earlier than October 2026 when we checked.
