The Disney turkey leg is a jumbo, smoked leg sold from carts and snack stands and eaten on the move. At Magic Kingdom it costs $14.99 at Liberty Square Market, served from 11 a.m. At EPCOT's Fife & Drum Tavern it is also $14.99. Prince Eric's Village Market in Fantasyland sells it with chips for $16.99.
It is real turkey. The legs come from toms, male turkeys that can weigh up to 50 pounds, which is why they look prehistoric next to a Thanksgiving drumstick. Disney executive chef Robert Adams, quoted by Snopes, put it plainly: "They're real turkeys." The emu rumor is false.

Why it tastes like ham
The texture surprises people. The meat is pink, dense and salty, closer to ham than to roast turkey. Disney does not publish its recipe, but that flavor and pink color are what curing and slow smoking produce. The skin is dark and leathery, and there are tendons running through the leg, so expect to pull meat off in strips.
Disney does not publish nutrition figures for the leg. Given its size and salt, treat it as a meal for two, not a snack for one.

Some guides also list a Frontierland turkey leg cart at Magic Kingdom; we could not confirm it or its price. Our menu search did not turn up a turkey leg at Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, but we could not rule one out.
At Universal, the leg at Islands of Adventure gained a sweet chili glaze in April 2025. Universal does not publish prices online, and we could not confirm the 2026 price.
How to do it right
- Share it. One leg and two forks is the correct ratio.
- Time it. Liberty Square Market only starts selling legs at 11 a.m., so it is a lunch or afternoon snack, not a breakfast.
- Get napkins first. It is greasy, and the paper wrapper is not enough.
- Do not count it as a cheap lunch. At $14.99 it costs over $5 more than the $9.79 hot dog sold at the same Liberty Square stand, and you still need a drink.
For a cheaper Disney classic, a Dole Whip is $5.99 a few minutes' walk away in Adventureland.
